Between county fairs and festivals celebrating everything from chowder to ribs, there are plenty of great celebratory food fests held each summer in New Hampshire. We think the very best one comes at the end of the season though – and it combines some of the best things New Hampshire has to offer.
The Hampton Beach Seafood Festival, started in 1988, is a truly massive event - they estimate annual attendance at over 150,000 people! The 2017 event will run from September 8–10.
Over 50 area restaurants serve up their very best seafood delicacies, so come with an empty stomach.
You'll find every iteration of lobster along with classics like fried clams, and pretty much every other kind of seafood you can imagine. If you aren't in the mood for fish, there are plenty of other treats to tempt you too!
Visitors get VERY into the festival, so break out that lobster hat we know you have stowed away in your closet!
You won't want to just eat and leave - with tons of arts and crafts vendors, booths run by local shops, and two stages featuring live music and entertainment all weekend, there's plenty to keep your whole family occupied.
If you're a true lobster lover, you might want to enter the lobster roll eating contest! It's also tons of fun to watch.
Definitely stay for the fireworks festival on Saturday night - they're the perfect way to send the summer out in style.
And on Sunday, the festival wraps up with an amazing skydiving demonstration that may just inspire you to try it yourself! At the very least, it'll convince you to come back to see it again next year.
