You’ll Have Loads Of Fun At This Dairy Farm In New Hampshire With Incredible Ice Cream
New Hampshire is our favorite place to spend the day exploring. But that doesn’t mean you need to hit the trails to do it. Instead, take some time to enjoy a local business or community. One of the best ways to do that is a local farm. This one, located in Sunapee, has been family-run for generations and they offer some of the best ice cream in the state.
Sanctuary Dairy Farm Ice Cream in Sunapee sits on 750 acres of land protected by conservation easements. There are hiking trails to enjoy and a lot of wildlife, making this a great day trip that includes nature and ice cream!
The farm dates back to the 1700s and today it's run by the tenth generation of the Johnson family. That includes three generations that have perfected all things ice cream.
How did a dairy farm become a local go-to spot for ice cream? It was the suggestion of Beck Johnson, then nine. He envisioned the old sheep barn becoming an ice cream shop and the rest is history!
Sanctuary Dairy Farm operates a farm stand that’s open year-round. The farm itself is open seasonally. Visit their website to learn more about their history and their hours. You can also follow them on Facebook. They can be reached on 603-863-8940.
