New Hampshire is full of the quintessential small towns you might expect to see throughout New England. Each one has its own character and personality. While we love exploring their downtown areas and enjoying the local restaurants and businesses, we also appreciate how close to nature many of them are. This lovely town has created its very own river walk full of incredible views and photo ops.
Flowing right through Littleton, you'll find the Ammonoosuc River.
The half-mile-long route follows the river through the town, offering visitors the chance to appreciate nature but also see and enjoy the local restaurants and shops. It begins on Riverside Drive in the west and heads to Riverglen Lane in the east.
One of our favorite stops along the way is Chutters where you'll find the longest candy counter in the world! Load up and then hit the river walk to enjoy your sweets.
The aptly named Riverwalk Covered Bridge is a 352-foot pedestrian bridge that was built just recently in the 2000s. The views from here are simply spectacular.
The bridge connects to Saranac Street and, being a suspension bridge, it offers a fun bouncy experience. And you can see the covered bridge from a distance.
This simple, easy walk is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while also being close to restaurants and shops. To access the route, plan to park on Mill Street where spaces are open to the public. There are lots of restaurants and shops near the mouth of the covered bridge. Enjoy them and head off on your own lovely river walk experience.
