In the southwestern corner of New Hampshire lies its largest state park, Pisgah State Park, which covers over 13,000 acres. Compared to some of the state’s busier parks, Pisgah sees fewer visitors and therefore has a somewhat wilder feel. In addition to minor hills and summits, the park is also home to numerous ponds, swamps, and marshes. One of the largest of these is Kilburn Pond. It’s also quite accessible to reach, which in my opinion, makes it one of the best hikes near Keene, NH.

If hiking near water is your thing (like it is mine), take an easy stroll near Great Bay, walk an old railroad grade to visit two ponds, or check out even more waterfront walks. Enjoy your hike!
