This Clam Shack Is Hands Down The Best In New Hampshire
New Hampshire has so many fantastic seafood spots that it’s hard to pick a favorite. Even so, we’re going to argue that we’ve found the best clam shack in the state. Now, this isn’t fine dining — don’t expect white tablecloths here — just fresh, delicious seafood of every type, from fried clams to lobster with drawn butter.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
Petey's Summertime Seafood and Bar in Rye has won "Best in New Hampshire" awards for basically every type of seafood for years, and for good reason.
Its location right on the Seacoast means everything is always super fresh, and you can enjoy a sea breeze with your lobster roll. Despite the name, Petey's is open year round, and its bright decor will cheer you up on even the gloomiest winter day.
Location and ambiance are nothing without great food, but it's there that Petey's really stands out. Their fried seafood is the best in the Granite State, and the fried clam basket is perfection. Check out that gorgeous golden crust!
You'll want something to wash down all that seafood — good thing Petey's bartenders mix a great drink. Check out this strawberry daquiri! We can't imagine anything more refreshing.
