Covering a beautiful 18-miles, the Presidential Range Rail Trail follows the location of some of the oldest tracks in the state through incredible landscapes.
If you choose to start at the set beginning you’ll want to head to Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge. The trail features Cherry Pond here and offers some of the most incredible views of the Presidential Range.
The trail varies in terms of the landscape which means you’ll have a chance to see a lot of what the state has to offer. You’ll see forests as well as wide-open areas offering great views.
Just a few miles of walking along the trail will clear your mind and, since the route is mostly flat, you won’t need to exert much energy. That will free up your mind for lots of calm and quiet.
The trail also runs over the Moose and Israel rivers which means a few fun bridges to cross. Kids love these, but we have to admit we find them fun too.
While this is a popular trail, you’re still likely to see wildlife of all types. Keep your eyes open for birds and even moose depending on the season. You’ll be able to take this trail all year-round and in the winter we love snowshoeing.
The Presidential Recreational Rail Trail is a great way to enjoy a day outside. You can learn more about it on the New Hampshire state parks website or check out more specifics on alltrails.com.
Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
