Jarbidge is about 10 miles south of the Idaho-Nevada border. The town observes Mountain Time even though the rest of the state of Nevada is in the Pacific Time Zone.

Jarbidge had a population of almost 2,000 people in the early 1900s, but today the population is around 111 people, with only a few of that number who are permanent residents.

Aside from an RV park, the town has two spots for lodging, one of which is the Outdoor Inn. The Inn also serves as a restaurant, bar and grill.

If you love Old West history, Jarbidge is the town where the very last stagecoach robbery took place in 1916. You can visit the jail where Ben Kuhl, the last stagecoach robber, was held. The Jarbidge Community Center has a wealth of history to explore as well.

One of the best features of Jarbidge is its location. It is very remote and you cannot reach the town via paved roads. During the winter visitors often must come in from Idaho as the Nevada roads are inaccessible due to snow.

The Jarbidge Wilderness Area spans 65,000 acres with lush green fields and inspiring mountains. In the spring it's a simply incredible spot for wildflower blooms.

You can easily see local wildlife, like antelope, roaming the fields, valleys and canyons of the wilderness area and near the outskirts of the town.

You can reach Jarbidge by driving north from Elko on State Route 225 (Mountain City Highway) and turnoff at Charleston, or use the Deeth exit from the I-80 and go north. If you are going in winter, check the accessibility of the roads as you may need to drive in from the town of Rogerson in Idaho.
