The little town of Stagecoach, located just east of Reno, is one of the last places on earth you’d expect to find a tiger. However, it turns out this is exactly where you’ll find the S.A.B.R.E. Foundation—a little-known tiger sanctuary that you need to see to believe. This non-profit organization has dedicated itself to the preservation of the beautiful creatures known as Siberian tigers. Although only open to the public by appointment, a trip out to this hidden gem of a sanctuary is well worth it. Check it out:

The foundation is the passion product of tiger enthusiast Peter Renzo. Renzo has always had a passion for these amazing creatures and he's made it his life work to care for them.

S.A.B.R.E. stands for Siberian (Tigers) Are Becoming Rapidly Extinct and it was originally established back in 2000. It was then that Renzo acquired a tiger named Sabre who, weighing more than 1,000 pounds, was considered one of the largest Siberian tigers.

The sanctuary is home to just six tigers, but its main goal is to educate the public and raise awareness about the declining tiger population. People visiting the sanctuary can observe as Renzo interacts with the tigers and showcases just how majestic these animals truly are.

Currently, the sanctuary is open to the public to see. However, visits are available by appointment only on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission to the sanctuary is just $10 for adults and $5 for kids.
