There’s a spot near Reno that’s a true natural paradise – Galena Creek Regional Park. With everything from stunning mountain views, deep forest trails, green meadows and bubbling creeks, this spot is truly heaven on earth for anyone who loves the outdoors. There’s so much to do in this park all year round!
Galena Creek Regional Park is located in Reno. The park is free to visit.
The park runs educational programs each year for students. The Great Basin Naturalists created the programs to teach science and ecology to children of all age groups.
Many of the trails in the park and the larger recreation area are shady, which makes them great options in the summer and also for beginners. Some of the trails can be quite steep but you will be awarded with amazing views of the whole area when you reach the top.
The Galena Creek Recreation Area is open year round. To reach the park, from Reno, take Highway 431 from 395 toward Lake Tahoe for 7 miles. Make a right at the Galena Creek Recreation Area sign. The first parking lot you come is where the visitor center is located.
