Throughout Nevada you’ll find a ton of great hikes that are suitable for explorers of all skill levels. While there’s nothing quite like taking on one of our more strenuous trails that offer incredible views and a great sense of reward, sometimes we just need a hike that won’t take up our entire day.
Inside one of our favorite state parks, leading you to someplace extraordinary, this hike is one everyone in our state should make a point to take.
Coming in at just over one mile long, the White Domes Loop Trail can be found within the Valley of Fire State Park.
How to get here:Click here for directions to the parking lot and White Domes Trailhead at the end of Mouse's Tank Road!
Pictured above, you can see the very beginning of the trail, a very sandy terrain that starts to incline. Be sure you're wearing shoes that you won't mind getting sandy or dirty and always remember to bring lots of water!
At the trailhead you'll be able to view information markers showing you a map of the trail, as well as a shaded picnic area.
Show above on the map you can see where the White Domes Day Use Area is pointed out, this is where the parking lot is along with everything else at the trailhead. From the Visitor Center in the state park, the parking lot and trailhead are just shy of a 6-mile-long drive.

In the beginning of the hike one of the first things you'll discover is the remains of an old movie set from the 1960's.
While not much of the set remains, pictured above you can see one of the walls that has barely made it through the tests of time. The 1966 film "The Professionals" was a typical adventure western movie that was nominated for several awards. Discovering a piece of history like this while you're on a hike is nothing short of fascinating and all the more reason to check out this trail!
Another feature of the White Domes Trail? The small slot canyon you'll get to go through!
It's always exciting to find out that the trail you'll be exploring has a slot canyon, that is if you're not afraid of smaller size spaces like these. You'll discover the slot canyon just after the old movie set remains, not too far into the hike.
Along the way you'll discover wild flowers and eye-catching sandstone formations.
You'll want to bring your camera on a scenic hike like this. Do you have a favorite mile long hike that takes you someplace stunning?
