Nothing beats spending the day at one of Nevada’s beautiful bodies of water and soaking up the incredible surroundings. Beaches may not be exactly common in our state, but you’d be surprised by just how many are out there waiting for you to find! One of our favorites is the scenic beach at Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area. It’s known as Savage Beach, but don’t be put off by the name. If anything, this little riverside beach is heaven on earth. This Laughlin beach in Nevada will surprise you with its near-tropical vibe.

Where is a scenic beach in Nevada?

When most people think about Nevada, they think of the Las Vegas lights or brutal deserts. But there are actually some wonderful lakes with scenic beaches. Here are a few scenic beaches in Nevada:

  • Secret Cove, Lake Tahoe, NV: Everyone knows about how beautiful Lake Tahoe is, but this secret beach hasn't been discovered by many people yet. This beautiful oasis is hidden away at the end of a 2.6-mile hike beginning at the Chimney Beach Overlook parking lot. Once you find Secret Cove, you will be transported into the Caribbean. Oh, and one thing to note is that the cove is clothing optional – so don't be surprised if it's a full moon every day of the month.
  • Sand Harbor Beach, Lake Tahoe, NV: Another Lake Tahoe gem with soft hot sand and deep blue waters. It is probably the most popular beach in the area, so get here early to grab the best spot on the beach. With wonderful mountain views and calm water, you can enjoy a relaxing float with dream-like scenery.
  • Boulder Beach, Boulder City, NV: If you enjoy a more rocky beach, perfect for rock-hounding, Boulder Beach is your jam. It's part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area about five miles from Hoover Dam. Boulder Beach Campground has about 150 spots for tent or RV camping.
  • Chimney Beach, Carson City, NV: This fun beach with a unique old chimney actually perched on the beach from an old caretaker's cabin is on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. It takes a bit of a hike to get there, but the views are epic. If you are in the Sand Harbor State Park area the trailhead to the beach is about two miles south of the park.
