Many movies have been filmed in Nevada. Some of these movies, such as “Leaving Las Vegas,” “Viva Las Vegas,” and “Fargo” were obviously filmed here. However, there are plenty of movies you may be surprised to learn were filmed in Nevada. Let’s take a look at 10 of them below.

1. Charley Varrick (1973)
Charley Varrick, played by Walter Matthau, and his friends rob a small town bank and soon learn the money belonged to the MOB. Nevada Scene: Tres Cruces Western Fidelity Bank was filmed at the Courthouse Museum in Genoa.
2. Iron Man (2008)
Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., is an industrialist and master engineer who builds a powered exoskeleton and becomes the superhero Iron Man.
Nevada Scene: Tony Stark misses the award presentation, which was filmed inside Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
3. Now You See Me (2013)
In Now You See Me, a magician named Atlas, played by Jesse Eisenberg, leads a team of talented illusionists called the Four Horsemen. Nevada Scenes: The venue where they're at when they rob the vault of a Parisian bank with a teleporter helmet is the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. Also, when Inspector Dylan Rhodes, played by Mark Ruffalo, is perplexed by a phone call informing him of the bank job, he was at the Golden Nugget casino on Fremont Street.
4. Top Gun (1986)
Top Gun, starring Tom Cruise, is about Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School - where only the best train to refine their elite flying skills. Nevada Scene: A lot of the aerial footage was filmed in Fallon, near the US Naval Air Station.
5. Godzilla (2014)
Godzilla, King of the Monsters, arises from the sea to combat enemies that threaten the survival of humanity. Nevada Scene: Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository and Las Vegas Boulevard landmark resorts and casinos.
6. Vanishing Point (1971)
In Vanishing Point, Vietnam War hero Kowalski, played by Barry Newman, has become a pill-addicted driver for hire. While transporting a car from Colorado to California, he makes a wager with his drug dealer. Soon after, Kowalski's recklessness on the road results in a high-speed police chase. Radio jock Super Soul, played by Cleavon Little, covers the police chase. Nevada Scene: The studio that Super Soul broadcasts from is filmed inside the Goldfield Hotel in Goldfield, Nevada. There were also desert scenes filmed in Nevada.
7. Transformers (2007)
Transformers, starring Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, is an American science-fiction action film based on the Transformers toy line. Nevada Scene: Bumblebee is held captive on the Hoover Dam.
8. Into the Wild (2007)
Into the Wild, written and directed by Sean Penn, tells the story of Chris McCandless, played by Emile Hirsch, who gives up everything he has to explore the Alaskan wilderness. Nevada Scene: Chris arrives in Reno beneath the famous Reno Arch.
9. The Shootist (1976)
J.B. Books, which was John Wayne's final film role, is a gunfighter who has been diagnosed with cancer and comes to Nevada at the turn of the 20th century. Nevada Scenes: The boarding house was filmed at the Krebs-Peterson House in Carson City. Also, the buggy ride was filmed in Washoe Lake State Park.
10. Rain Man (1988)
Rain Man, starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise, tells the story of a selfish brother, Charlie (Cruise), who discovers that his estranged father has died and left his multimillion-dollar estate to his autistic son (Charlie's brother he knew nothing about), Raymond (Hoffman). Nevada Scene: Raymond shows off his card skills and Charlie teaches him to dance in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.
