This Charming Nevada Town Is Perfect For An Autumn Day Trip
If you’re looking for a fun day trip this weekend, consider the little town of Genoa. Located just 42 miles south of Reno, this historic little town has plenty to offer. Check it out:

Located at 2304 Main Street, the courthouse was originally built in 1865, then rebuilt in 1910 after a fire destroyed it, and much of the town. The museum features many historic displays and the renovated jail. It's open through October from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This little town is so peaceful and quiet, especially during shoulder season when tourists are much less plentiful.


"Nevada's Oldest Thirst Parlor" opened in 1853. Visiting is like taking a step back in time to the Wild West. 2282 Main Street.

River Fork Ranch is an 800-acre preserve that offers hiking, wildlife viewing and photography. Take a hike on the River Fork Ranch Trail. The preserve is open 365 days a year, from dawn to dusk. 381 Genoa Lane.

Mormon Station was the first white settlement in Nevada. This replica of the original trading fort includes a museum (entry fee $1), a park, stockade and wagon shed. Learn more about Nevada's history at this charming little state park. 225 Main Street.

The Pink House was built in 1855 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It offers a great selection of cheeses and charcuterie, along with fabulous desserts and delicious comfort food. Open Tuesday through Saturday fro 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed Monday. 193 Genoa Lane.
