The paved, non-motorized loop trail was constructed through the combined efforts of citizens, landowners, and state agencies. It officially had its grand opening in 2012 and has provided travelers and residents alike with stunning scenic views ever since.
The loop trail surrounds the River Mountains and connects prominent outdoor destinations like Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Hoover Dam, Henderson, and Boulder City. It's a great mode of transportation to these areas but the journey it takes to get there is truly the most important part.
In order to accommodate all outdoor enthusiasts, the trail is comprised of paved and concrete segments 12-feet in width. Certain segments even boast a second trail for equestrian use. Whether you spend one hour or several exploring this trail, every moment on it promises a unique experience.
There are several trailheads and access points for the River Mountains Loop located throughout Henderson, Boulder City, and Lake Mead NRA. The trail also connects to the Historic Railroad Trail near the Alan Bible Visitor Center at Lake Mead.
