Genoa may be small, but this community takes celebrating Christmas very seriously. It’s a wonderful time of year to plan a trip to this humble town and experience the wholesome events that it has planned for the upcoming season. It's never too early to get into that holiday spirit and a visit to Genoa is bound to do the trick. This humble town of just 939 residents resides approximately 40 miles south of Reno, and it's a Christmas destination that should not be missed.
This charming little town is a great place to visit no matter what time of year it is. However, it takes on an especially enchanting character as the holidays approach. This town may be small but they boast an entire agenda of holiday events that are worth checking out.
Everything kicks off on Friday, December 6, with a myriad of seasonal activities. Christmas Caroling begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Genoa Tree Lighting at 6:30 p.m. The evening will then end with a round of cookies and hot cocoa with fellow community members and friends.
Another beloved Genoa tradition is Breakfast with Santa. This year, the event will take place on Saturday, December 14, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. This community breakfast boasts mounds of fluffy pancakes, warm syrup, hot cocoa, and more. Of course, Santa himself will also be in attendance!
Every year, Genoa also puts on a concert called A Cowboy Country Christmas. Taking place at the historic Genoa Town Hall, the event will be preceded by a lasagna dinner hosted by Friends of Genoa.
Meanwhile, the town also participates in a variety of charitable events throughout the month, such as Toys for Tots and a Drive-By Food Drive. It just goes to show that the holiday season in this small town is all about community and helping each other out. Now, that's the REAL Christmas spirit.
