What are some fun things to do at Lake Tahoe?

 

Lake Tahoe is an outdoor lover's dream. One cannot express with words the feeling of peace and serenity these cool blue waters elicit when you gaze upon them for the first time. While you are visiting, here are some fun things to do at Lake Tahoe:

  • Hike to Monkey Rock: Lake Tahoe has some amazing hiking trails, but Monkey Rock will make you smile. When you round the bend in the trail and come upon this unique rock formation you really can't help but smile. If you look at it from the right angle it really does look like a happy monkey.
  • Find a hidden beach: Chimney Beach Trail is a six-mile out-and-back trail that takes you to a hidden beach. Toward the end of the trail, you'll arrive at Marlette Lake, a beautiful hidden gem with a rocky shoreline perfect for exploring. While it isn't a sandy beach that is gentle on the toes, Chimney Beach is still incredible.
  • Walk to a fire lookout: This easy hike is only a couple miles round trip, but the reward at the end is a breathtaking overlook. You'll get the best view of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area on a clear day. The trail to the lookout is on the north side of Crystal Bay. The lookout was built in 1926 to detect fires in the forest below.
  • Grab a burger overlooking the lake: After all of this hiking, some grub is in order. And one of the best spots near Lake Tahoe is the Lone Eagle Grille. This Incline Village eatery has spectacular views, incredible woodwork, and some pretty epic desserts — of course, the meal selection is delightful as well. There is no better way to spend an evening than enjoying good food on the patio with the fire pit roaring and the stars popping into life over Lake Tahoe.
