Can't decide between a day spent at the beach or a hike through a magical forest? Experience both when you set off on the Lam Watah Historic Trail near Stateline, Nevada.
This paved and well-maintained path is the perfect outing for families and hikers looking to take it easy. Complete with informative placards placed along the trail, it makes for a great way to get out and immerse yourself in Northern Nevada's stunning scenery.
The trail can either be hiked as an out-and-back trail which boasts an easygoing length of just two miles, or a loop trail that leads you straight to a gorgeous beach. The loop trail option tacks on a mile to the trail but it's still quite short and easy.
The trail takes you right through the beautiful Rabe Meadows and the trailhead can be found at a parking lot located on Kahle Drive. Soon after departing from the trailhead, you'll be completely immersed in the awe-inspiring landscape.
This area was actually meant for casino development at one point, but it was saved by the Nature Conservancy who then donated it to the U.S. Forest Service. We couldn't be more thankful this region was saved, especially since it's now home to the most spectacular nature trail!
The trail is extremely easy to follow and boasts the most magnificent scenery. A lush oasis comprised of pine trees, aspen trees, and vibrant green meadows will completely surround you.
Soon you'll be led to Nevada Beach Campground where you can access Nevada Beach itself. This gem of a beach is one of the most beloved spots along Lake Tahoe for a reason. Boasting sandy shores and direct access to Tahoe's mesmerizing waters, you'll definitely want to spend some time taking it all in.
The Lam Watah Nature Trail is open year-round but is best completed from May through October. It's also known as an especially great destination for sunset watching, so be sure to time your hike in accordance! Click here to be taken to the trail map.
