If you were lucky enough to be born and raised in the Silver State, you’ve probably noticed a few things about Nevadans that differentiate us from everybody else. Whether you grew up in the flashy city of Las Vegas or a remote town elsewhere throughout the state, there are always a few dead giveaways that remind you of your Nevada upbringing. To the rest of the country, October 31st is a day spent celebrating Halloween. For Nevadans, it's a day spent celebrating our state! Although it's technically observed on the last Friday in October every year, the real Nevada Day date is October 31st.
When you grew up in a state with more ghost towns than living towns, it's kind of hard to get spooked by abandoned places. And whereas other people may scoff at the mention of aliens, you've driven down the Extraterrestrial Highway enough to know that they might be real (but they come in peace).

Hey, it's a dry heat after all. Or, that's what we keep telling ourselves.
Cars faced upside down in the desert? Check. Alien-themed brothels? Check. Random art installations in the middle of nowhere? Check. We've seen it all.
At this point, it's just a common part of everyday life. In our airport, grocery stores, bars, restaurants, these things are everywhere. Others may find it weird but we're used to it.
Have you ever told someone you're from Nevada, only to have them assume you live in Las Vegas? Or that you're even in driving distance? It can be a struggle to explain to out-of-staters that there's a LOT more to Nevada than that one city.
Whatever you do, do not pronounce our state's name incorrectly in front of us. You don't know what type of anger you'll unleash. Now, say it with us: Ne-VA-duh.

It doesn't matter if you just got back from a weekend camping trip or a long hike out in the wilderness, you're always searching for your next big adventure. After all, there's so much of Nevada to see and so little time.

The more places you travel, the more obvious it is to you that most people have no clue how wonderful Nevada is. They only know of the things that we let them know.
