It takes a 20-minute drive to get to the little town of Springfield from Omaha, and about 50 minutes from Lincoln. It may sound like a long way to drive for breakfast, but you’ll want to make that trip once you see what Wicked Hen Farmhouse has to offer.
Wicked Hen Farmhouse opened in Springfield in 2017 and has since become a true destination restaurant for anyone who's craving down-home cooking and a big helping of comfort food.
The restaurant is locally-owned and family-operated, and you can feel a sense of hominess as soon as you arrive. The decor is a sort of rural chic, combining the hallmarks of a country restaurant with a modern touch.
The Wicked Hen has become a gathering spot for locals and for not-so-local people. It's not uncommon for folks from Omaha or Lincoln to make a special trip just for the incredible breakfasts.
Breakfast is the specialty here, and you won't find a more delicious way to start your day. Try the chicken-fried steak, hash stacker, or homestyle biscuits and gravy. The breakfast selections are all so good that you'll want to keep coming back again and again until you've tried them all.
But have you ever seen a breakfast sandwich served on a huge cinnamon roll? The combination of sweet and savory and a variety of mouthwatering textures make the cinnamon roll sandwich a hit with diners.
The Wicked Hen has had to reduce its hours and its dining room capacity due to the pandemic. Like most small businesses, the restaurant could use a little extra support. Call ahead if you plan on dining in to be sure there's an open table, or order your meal to-go to enjoy at home.
Wicked Hen Farmhouse is located at 153 Main Street in Springfield. The restaurant is open Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday night dinner hours are from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. These hours are subject to change, so be sure to call 531-721-6877 or visit the restaurant’s Facebook page to stay up to date.
