12 Things You’ve Grown To Undeniably Hate If You’re From Nebraska
Depending on where you are in Nebraska, you might have woken up today to find snow, ice, or bitter cold waiting for you outside. It seems like a pretty good day to stay indoors and just relax, doesn’t it? If you’re feeling grumpy about the winter weather, know that you’re not alone. In fact, we started thinking about some other perpetually annoying things about living in Nebraska. No place is perfect (though Nebraska comes close), and that means there are bound to be some bothersome things. Like these…
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

Let's just get this right out of the way. It seems like there's never much time between the two most annoying times of the year: Hotter Than The Surface Of The Sun and Everything Is Frozen Solid.

It happens (practically) EVERY YEAR. You should really go ahead and learn how to control your car when there's snow on the ground.

Some of us still drive cars without remote starters. And that means either running outside to warm up the car (easier said than done while getting a bunch of kids ready for school) or dealing with being SUPER cold for the first few minutes of the drive.

That good old prairie wind likes to do its best to blow the tops off of the trees like it's blowing out birthday candles.

The changing weather brings these nightmares out. Look at them, all smug down there, just waiting for their next victim. We see you!

Hey, we really DO want those potholes fixed. But miles and miles of detours and single lanes isn't exactly our favorite thing either.

We were raised to be good, respectful, polite people here In Nebraska. Or at least most of us were. And then there's that one person who cuts in line or lets the door slam in your face instead of holding it open for you. Grrrr.

Just because of our geography, a lot of people DO fly over Nebraska every day. But there's a lot of great stuff going on down here on the surface that's worth seeing and doing.

Ugh, there are so many things in the air here three seasons out of the year that, as a state, we're probably single-handedly keeping the makers of Claritin in business.

Nobody likes paying them...especially in Nebraska where they are a constant hot-button issue.

Ah, the quintessential question asked by people who don't live here. No, no one who lives in Nebraska would push over (and potentially injure) a cow. Good lucking tipping over that beast, by the way.

It's only a problem, of course, when there's lots of oncoming traffic and you can't just zoom around them in the other lane (assuming there even are two lanes). Still, we sigh loudly whenever we see one on the road ahead.
How about you, Nebraska? What are some of the less wonderful things about living in Nebraska? Throw your two cents right into the comments.
