The tiny town of Hershey, Nebraska is home to about 660 citizens, a few local businesses, and one of the most unusual galleries in the state. Stones and Bones Gallery and Emporium is filled with interesting artifacts, unique collections, and even handmade jewelry.
You can tell that the little shop with the big bison on the front is going to have something awesome inside.
And you'll be proven right once you go in. Everywhere you turn, there's something interesting to look at. This family-owned business is run by lifelong collectors who specialize in Native American artifacts, rocks, Western art, and collectibles.
The "stones" part of the store's name is reflected in the large collection of stone tool artifacts. Native American arrowheads, scrapers, knives, and more fill the display cases. If you're a history buff, this collection will be a treat to look through.
The store's owners go on frequent excursions to find more objects to add to their assortment of artifacts. These antique traps were all manufactured between the 1800s and the 1930s. Now, they make up a unique display inside Stones & Bones.
It's not all stones and bones, though. There's this huge collection of harmonicas, for example, which you'll want to spend plenty of time looking over. Many of the gallery and emporium's objects are part of a privately-owned collection, but there are also plenty of great things for sale.
You'll even find custom-made jewelry here. If you can dream it up, there's a good chance these folks can make it a reality. They also offer demonstrations of flint knapping, which is shaping stone into tools, much like the Native Americans did long ago.
