A lot of people underestimate the quiet beauty of the Bohemian Alps region of Nebraska. The area around Prague, Loma, and Valparaiso (among many other little towns) features gently rolling hills and a quiet rural atmosphere.

This is where you'll find Redtail Lake State Wildlife Management Area, a hidden gem tucked away in the rural area just outside the little town of Dwight.

The loop trail here is easy, and quite short at just 1.8 miles. Although the walk won't be long, you'll see such beauty here that it will feel much more expansive. The terrain is easy to handle, and the trail even passes a short distance through a wooded area, adding a bit of variety to the walk.

The peacefulness out here is simply profound. You're surrounded by some of the state's loveliest nature but miles removed from all civilization. If you're coming from a city, this may be the quietest, most peaceful place you've ever visited.
