The Incredible Nebraska Restaurant That’s Way Out In The Boonies But So Worth The Drive
Spencer, in Boyd County, is the kind of tiny Nebraska town that most people never pass through. It’s pretty far off the beaten path, so you’ve got to want to find it. After seeing the home-cooked food at this little town’s restaurant/general store, you most likely will want to set out on a trek to Spencer.

Country Cafe is located at 201 S Thayer St, in the same building as the 63 Co. General Store.
You can stop in for a simple sandwich for lunch, or fill up on one of their delicious hot creations. There are specials every day, and they are definitely worth trying out. Sunday is buffet day, when you can check out all kinds of yummy homemade dishes.
This chicken bacon ranch pasta dish looks absolutely delicious! Other menu and special items include down-home goodies like burgers, BLTs, Indian tacos, Reubens, salads, chili, and homemade Runzas.
If you're in the mood for something heartier, there are plenty of beef options on the menu. The beef is all raised locally in Spencer, which means it's super-fresh and it supports the local economy. This really sets it apart from other rural diners that serve frozen beef sourced from all over the place.
And don't forget the homemade desserts! They're the tasty classics you would expect to find at Sunday dinners at Grandma's house - and there's soft serve ice cream.
The Country Cafe is one of those fantastic small-town diners that you’ll never forget once you find it. Try it out from 6am to 10pm every day of the week. After you’ve enjoyed a tasty meal, take a little walk to the back to browse the gifts, souvenirs, and sundries in the general store. Keep up on the daily specials at the Country Cafe’s Facebook page.
