There’s A Bakery On This Beautiful Orchard In Nebraska And You Have To Visit

There are few things quite as delightful as fresh-baked goodies, and when those baked items are made from ingredients straight from the ground or tree, well, we’re sold. Union Orchard in Union, Nebraska – just outside of Nebraska City – has an onsite bakery that produces some of the most delicious baked goods you’ve tasted outside of your grandma’s kitchen.
Union Orchard is located at 2405 U.S. 75, Union, NE 68455. Apples, peaches, strawberries, pumpkins and more grow in this fertile soil. There's always something fresh during the growing season.
And while picking up a bag of orchard-fresh peaches or apples is always great, what we really look forward to every year is the variety of baked goods made with fruits fresh from the orchard.
The caramel apple pies are a particularly notable treat. The apples are the perfect amount of firmness without being mushy, and the caramel perfectly rounds out the tastes of cinnamon and apple.
One of these little beauties (or three - we won't judge) and a cup of coffee is the absolute best thing on a chilly fall morning when you're headed out to pick your own apples. But honestly, these donuts are perfect any time of the day or year.
But other fruits also have their time in the sun, so to speak. Peaches are the star of the show for their short growing season, making appearances in treats like kolaches, coffee cakes, danishes, and more. Strawberry and rhubarb treats also show up on the shelves for a while - but be quick, because they don't last long.
Be sure to check out the other fruit and nut products in the country store, as well as many varieties of honey, wines, ciders, and other delicious treats. The kitchen also serves up non-bakery items like sausages, hot dogs, BBQ beef sandwiches, and popcorn. But don't spend ALL of your time in the store - take a hayrack ride out to the orchard to pick your own fruits in season.

Both the Country Store and the Central Apple Market are open year-round. Come to the orchard in April for the Arbor Day celebration to welcome spring – then come back in May for the Rhubarb Fest, June for the Strawberry Festival, and throughout the summer and fall for lots of delicious fruit picking.
