Sip Wine And Mingle With Ghosts In One Of Nebraska’s Oldest, Most Haunted Bars
The Iron Horse Food & Spirits has been a fixture in the tiny town of Hooper for over 100 years. Known for its legendary chicken fried steaks and tasty burgers, you’ll often see the place packed with people who have made the 52-mile drive from Omaha to dine there. And rumor has it that the building is also full of the spirits of those who are no longer with us.
Iron Horse Food & Spirits is located on Main Street in Hooper, which has a population of just 826.
You won't find a lot of excitement in this tiny town, but this bar is always a popular place to spend an evening.
The eatery is open daily until 11 p.m., except for Saturdays, when you can imbibe until 2 a.m.
For a haunted establishment, this place is quite lively.
Employees at the bar have been experiencing strange things here for years.
In 2012, an employee of 17 years, Kathy Messier, described regularly hearing the kitchen bell ring when no one was in it. She also recalled a night when she threw a piece of bread at the garbage can only to find it a few minutes later next to her feet.
Messier isn't the only one who has experienced paranormal activity here. People have reported hearing footsteps upstairs when no one was there (and the doors were locked).
The Iron Horse has been explored by quite a few paranormal investigators over the years. One of them even caught the audio of someone warning them to get out (yikes).
Whether or not you believe in ghosts, this is a fantastic place to hang out and enjoy a cold beer and a hot meal.
You probably won't see any ghosts... but if you do, they'll be friendly.
Address: 107 North Main Street, Hooper, NE, 68031
