Lauritzen Gardens In Nebraska Will Have 400,000 Daffodils In Bloom This Spring
One of the best parts of spring is watching the flowers and other plants come back to life. There’s one flower that seems to announce spring more than any other: the daffodil. You can see hundreds of thousands of them this spring at Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha. Don’t wait, though – they won’t last for long!
For the past several years, Lauritzen Gardens has been working toward a big goal: to plant one million daffodils. Contributors have donated $5 for each bulb, which goes toward the planting and care of one daffodil bulb.
The daffodil area is 900 feet long and up to 75 feet wide, and it makes quite a sight as you walk its length. Although the display currently contains less than half of its intended blooms this year, in future years you'll see a million of the yellow and white blooms poking their bright heads out of their green leaves.
The daffodil has always been a sign of rebirth and renewal, so you can imagine just how cheerful and charming this part of the garden is this time of year.
Currently - as of April 13 - the daffodil field is blooming, but it hasn't quite reached its full magnificence. That will happen over the next few weeks.

The daffodils weren't viewable in 2020 because the garden was closed due to the pandemic. But you can visit them this year and enjoy the vast ocean of cheerful blossoms.
You can contribute to the A Million Daffodils project by making a tax-deductible donation of $5 to sponsor a single bulb. There is no limit to the number of bulbs you can buy! Currently, all visitors need to reserve timed tickets in advance via the garden's website.
