This Nebraska Legend Will Send Chills Down Your Spine
Everyone loves a good legend, and some seem to hang on for decades, even without any proof. Here’s a creepy legend about an already creepy place that might just send chills down your spine.
Hummel Park covers 202 wood acres in Omaha.
It's a very pretty park and a popular spot for hiking, picnics, and recreation. But... there's a creepy urban legend about this park. The park is located at 3033 Hummel Road.
Many believe that Hummel Park is haunted, and visitors report seeing orbs, hearing voices, and having a distinct sense of uneasiness.
The park has also unfortunately been the site of a few murders and deaths. A few decades ago, it was a fairly dangerous place with a lot of crime and gang activity.
It's no surprise that this place would be the center of several urban legends.
It's quiet and still, even in the middle of the day. Walk a way down one of the paths, and you'll feel very, very isolated.
One legend involves the Morphing Stairs.
It's believed that if you count the stairs while ascending, you'll get a different number when you go back down. If for some reason you get the same count both times, you'll be cursed and will die soon.
The creepiest story is about a family or group of evil people who live in the park.
The people are said to be albinos who have lived here, hidden from society, for decades.
The people hide from visitors among the trees...
...and some say that they even live IN the trees.
When they get hungry, they'll attack lone visitors and eat them. Don't stay in Hummel Park after dark, the legend cautions, or you might fall prey to the cannibal albinos.
This legend has been circulating since as early as 1966 and has remained fairly popular. Like most urban legends, everyone knows someone who has a friend whose cousin's boyfriend saw the albinos... but no verifiable first-hand accounts exist.
So what do YOU think? Is there a colony of cannibalistic albinos living in Hummel Park?
