Two Cities In Nebraska Have Been Named Among The Happiest Places To Live In The U.S.
Nebraska’s high quality of life, low cost of living, terrific medical facilities, and ample recreational opportunities have made it well known as a great place to live. In a recent study by personal finance site WalletHub, our two largest cities have been named in the top 50 happiest cities to live in the entire U.S.
WalletHub used a proprietary methodology to measure the happiness of more than 180 American cities. They ranked each using 30 key indicators of happiness such as emotional and physical well-being, income and employment, and community and environment.
Lincoln came in at #13 on the list of 182 cities. Our capital city has often been named among the best places for business startups, foodies, homeowners, and people who love living in a friendly atmosphere.
Lincoln was named #24 among the 182 cities for physical and emotional well-being. If you're sick, Lincoln is a terrific place to get healthcare. In the employment & income rating, Lincoln was ranked #68, beating out cities like Denver, Fort Worth, Atlanta, and many more.
As far as community and environment, Lincoln holds the rank of #24. With numerous parks, cultural events, community events, and museums, as well as a healthy economy, it's no wonder that the city is so highly regarded as one of the happiest places to live in the entire country.
Omaha is also on the list of happiest U.S. cities. Nebraska's largest city was named #50 on the list, beating out cities like Honolulu, Virginia Beach, Tallahassee, and more.
The city's highest ranking was in community and environment; it was ranked #38 in the nation. It's no surprise, considering the vast amount of festivals, concerts, theatres, parks, and other recreational and cultural opportunities throughout the city.
Omaha also earned high marks in emotional and physical well-being, no doubt due in part to the city's world-class healthcare facilities. Low unemployment and healthy wages contributed to Omaha's income and employment rating as well.
