Finding a great antique shop can be a truly exhilarating feeling. Sifting through treasures, thinking about the story behind each item, finding something very special…it’s all part of antique hunting. One little “town” just outside of North Platte is dedicated to that rush of finding the perfect antique.
Grain Bin Antique Town is more than an antique store. It's a series of 20 salvaged vintage wooden grain bins, all connected by a boardwalk made of 100-year-old Douglas fir timber salvaged from an old school. The separate buildings make it feel as though you're walking through a town as you wander from one bin to the next.
In each bin you'll find all sorts of treasures. Some are rented out by local antique dealers who bring their own stash of must-have collectibles.

A large barn holds even more antiques. The owners are constantly making improvements and additions to the "town," adding new bins when possible and expanding their shop space. New acquisitions are added to the inventory all the time so no two visits are ever quite the same.
Even the bins themselves are fascinating. The vintage octagonal wooden structures were used to store grain in the 1930s and '40s. Many are still hanging around on farms, either abandoned or converted to store other items. The idea for the antique town came when the owners saved two of the buildings from destruction.
From antique farm items to vintage furniture to decorative bits and bobs, each grain bin is brimming with surprises. This place is one of Nebraska's gems; you won't find another antique shop like it anywhere else.
Grain Bin Antique Town is located in the hills just outside of North Platte. I'm a big fan of North Platte and the truly wonderful people there. This cool little stop is just one more great place to visit while you're in the area. Just don't expect it to be a brief stop, especially if you've got an eye for unique collectibles.
