The Homy Inn has been around since 1956; it's become one of those places where generations of the same family have gone to have an evening out with friends.
The Homy Inn is a dive bar in the best way possible. It's not fancy, it's full of interesting people, and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the atmosphere and the drinks.
The interior of the bar is covered in neat memorabilia, from baseball cards to Beatles collectibles to vintage newspapers. If you're ever bored here (though we don't see that happening), you can always spend an evening trying to see it all.
You can settle in for a beer or a cocktail, of course, but to get the full Homy experience you'll want to order a champagne. There are four flavors on tap: sweet, dry, strawberry, and peach.
You can get it by the flute or by the pitcher, depending on just how thirsty you are. This is no gross gas-station champagne; it's delicious and bubbly and ice cold - everything champagne should be.
The idea to serve champagne on tap came from the bar's founder, Maynard Finkle. It's this novelty that brings people in from all over the city, across the state, and beyond.
The Homy Inn doesn't serve food, but they do have salted, in-the-shell peanuts served in dog dishes. It's another endearing touch that makes this bar such an icon.
