Lots of places promote fun for everyone, but Monk Botanical Gardens actually delivers! The 30-acre site includes several themed gardens. But it’s not just beautiful blooms and lush greenery that fill the gardens. There are lots of fantastic features, like a treehouse, nature trails, and workshops and classes. Take a look:
Dubbed an “urban sanctuary for education,” Monk Botanical Gardens is nestled alongside the bustling streets of Wausau.
Since its establishment in 2010, it's grown into an exciting community attraction with something for visitors young and old.
Offering a magical escape into nature, the 30-acre site is brimming with beauty, blooms, and fun.
A real feast for the eyes, Monk Botanical Gardens is touted as “one of the most picturesque botanical gardens in the region, if not the state.”
It's actually made up of a few themed gardens. There’s the Meditation Garden, which is as idyllic as expected. For the young (and young at heart), there’s a whimsical children’s garden.
One of the most unique, though, is the Kitchen Garden.
Designed to offer a complete seed-to-table experience, it’s managed by area groups, who plant produce, then tend and harvest it, and finally, prepare the food in the garden’s demonstration kitchen.
Exploring the gardens couldn’t be easier, thanks to foot trails that wind through them.
And with benches, a pavilion, and a treehouse, taking in the scenic surroundings is just as easy.
The garden's allure goes far beyond its beauty, though. Monk Botanical Gardens hosts workshops, classes, and special events, such as plant sales, throughout the year.
