Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a Texas farmer in the 1850s? Visit Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms and take a step back into history.
Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms is a historic site that will let you step right back into the mid-1800s. It's located at 10621 Pioneer Farms Drive in northeast Austin.
Throughout this living history museum, you'll find volunteer docents who will show you around and teach you about what it was like to live on a Texas farm more than 100 years ago.
Practice some old-fashioned food prep skills.
See demonstrations of old farming and ranching techniques and equipment.
Watch docents in period costume demonstrate homemaking skills of the 1800s.
Swing on the old-fashioned swing.
Say hello to the longhorn steer.
Pet the donkeys.
Ride in a covered wagon.
Visit the little farm of the Fritz Kruger family. It was established in 1868, and thirteen children were raised here in this little one-room cabin!
Visit the farm Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Admission is $8/adults; $6/children 3-12.
