Aside from cooler weather, one of the best things about fall in South Carolina is all the harvest festivals in the state. As it turns out, the biggest pumpkin grower in South Carolina is celebrating the pumpkin harvest every Saturday in October. What a great coincidence! It's just not fall until you've paid a visit to the largest pumpkin farm in the Palmetto State.
Every Saturday in October, Cotton Hills Farm opens to the public. Their annual Farm Tour is one of the most anticipated family events in the area.
Located in the Upstate, the largest pumpkin maker in the state also grows cotton and grain.
But it's those beautiful orange gourds that take center stage at this annual fall event that's fun for the whole family.
Children and adults alike will love visiting the residents of the barnyard. So cute!
And playing creative barnyard games, like giant Tic Tac Toe — with pumpkins, of course! Then try your luck at pumpkin ring toss or pumpkin bowling.
Pick out a pumpkin to purchase for the house. The mini ones come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors.
Small kids will get a free little pumpkin they can paint while at the farm.
Many other activites are in store, including a four acre maze constructed from bales of hay. And the whole family can enjoy a fun hayride around the farm.
Admission is $8 for persons 13 and over, children 2-12 are $6 and infants under age 2 are free.
Get in on the action by visiting the Cotton Hills Farm Market. From there you'll board a farm tour transport to get to the event. Farm tours depart continuously from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every Saturday in October 2017.
Cotton Hills Farm Market is located at 2575 Lowrys Highway, Chester, SC 29706. For more information, visit their official website.
