When it comes to hiking, difficult is often considered better. It's natural to assume that if a hike is particularly treacherous, the intense effort makes it more worthwhile. But that doesn't mean we don't have easier trails in South Carolina that are just as worthy of exploration. One of our favorites is Mountain Creek Trail in Paris Mountain State Park. Though this is a fairly simple woods walk that doesn't even measure three miles, it's got some of the prettiest scenery in the state. You'll see wonderful wooded views and get a glimpse of magnificent river scenery. Check it out:
Paris Mountain State Park is just a few miles north of Greenville. This 1,540-acre paradise is home to a 13-acre lake, Lake Placid, and a 2,000-foot tall mountain that shares the park's name.
Mountain Creek Trail measures about 2.6 miles and is one of the easier trails in the park.
Some parts of the trail are pretty rocky, so it's not wheelchair accessible, but it's a good option for dogs or older kids that are up for a hike of this length.
It'll give you a workout, but not enough of one that you're exhausted, so it's a good option for novice hikers or those not up for a major trek.
The water views are beautiful no matter what time of year it is!
The trail is relatively flat enough that it's also a great option for mountain bikers.
Note that bikes are only allowed for a portion of the trail, so make sure to take note of the posted signs.
This is one of our favorite easier trails in South Carolina!
