For a small state, Rhode Island has an enormous list of decadent dining options. From casual burger joints and clam shacks to elegant eateries with stunning views, we've got it all, and a fresh new year means you can make a brand new dining bucket list.
This is by no means a complete list of every worthy restaurant in the Ocean State -- but if you've dined at the majority of these spots by the end of 2020, you'll have had a delicious year.
1. The Lobster Bar (Newport)
The Lobster Bar hovers over the Newport Harbor, offering 180 degree water views. And as if that wasn't reason enough to dine here, the food happens to be fresh and fantastic.
2. The Slow Rhode (Providence)
Due to its somewhat off-the-beaten path location, The Slow Rhode got somewhat of a slow start. But recent expansion in the area has drawn more of a crowd, and Rhode Islanders are starting to realize how delicious the food is here.
3. Champlin's Seafood Deck (Narragansett)
A waterfront favorite in in Narragansett, Champlin’s has been serving seafood in a casual setting for 70 years. If you've never visited this no-frills restaurant, make this the year you do -- the views alone are worth the drive.
4. CAV Restaurant (Providence)
The food at CAV Restaurant, best described as contemporary bistro fare, is wonderful... but it's the elegant ambiance and eclectic decor that will entice you. Everything inside this space was meticulously planned, and it's absolutely beautiful.
5. Jigger's Diner (East Greenwich)
There's so much to love about Jigger’s Diner. Between its century's worth of history, its all-day breakfast and its unique ambiance, it's a must-see for everyone in the Ocean State.
6. River Falls Restaurant (Woonsocket)
River Falls Restaurant is located on the banks of the beautiful Blackstone River, and on warm, sunny days, dining on the patio is delightful. And to top it off, this steak and seafood joint serves some extremely tasty food.
7. Aunt Carrie's (Narragansett)
Come for the clams, stay for the nostalgia. Aunt Carrie’s is a century-old timeless treasure that will open for the season in April (and we can't wait).
8. Chophouse Grille (Wakefield)
We once called this place a carnivore’s dream come true, and we stand by that statement. Chophouse Grille is a sleek, modern, all-American eatery -- and even their late night dining menu is impressive.
9. Troop (Providence)
Dining at Troop is quite an experience. Not only is the space colorful and eclectic, but the street food they serve is positively mindblowing. If you've never had a meal here, don't let 2020 pass you by without trying it.
