Remember how much fun it was to go to the zoo when we were kids? All the animals seemed so big, so magical. And, we all undoubtedly had our favorite animal that we'd run straight for when we arrived. Today, we might watch our kids experience that same wonder of seeing a wild animal for the first time. Next time you're on the lookout for a way to spend a few hours - or an entire day - visit this zoo in Pennsylvania that's home to some animals you may have never seen in person - yet.
Bring the whole family to explore the cozy 11-acre ZooAmerica, tucked in Hershey and a favorite local attraction for more than four decades.
And, don't forget your camera. More than 200 animals call the zoo home, including such lively characters as the pronghorn, North America's fastest land animal.
Snap photos of the bald eagles and other North American animals, including the...
American Marten, an adorable member of the weasel family that is most commonly found in the Rocky Mountains, New England, and the Great Lakes region.
Snowy owls, ocelots, Mexican beaded lizards, and ringtails are just some of the other animals you'll see.
Of course, the zoo houses such popular animals as black bears, gray wolves, mountain lions, and river otters.
And, while you've probably seen a skunk before (and definitely smelled one), you likely haven't seen a painting skunk until now.
Stop for a breather and a bite to eat at Timber Treats, which serves hot dogs, fries, and chicken nuggets. And, don't forget to visit the gift shop to stock up on souvenirs.
Explore Zoo America any time of the year. Current hours, through March 2019, are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
ZooAmerica is located at 201 Park Ave., Hershey, PA 17033.
