The holidays are upon us, and that means days and nights celebrating with friends and family. The city of Cincinnati offers views as dazzling as a Christmas tree, and where better to enjoy them than at some of the city's best restaurants? Below is a go-to list of restaurants that feature gorgeous views of the city.
1. Primavista
Primavista, located in Price Hill on Cincinnati's west side, is the perfect place for a special night out. The views and the cuisine are both amazing. Primavista is considered upscale, but it's also a very friendly place with a waitstaff that treats you like family. This is Italian hospitality at it's finest, and the views elevate the experience even further.
810 Matson Place, Price Hill, 513-251-6467
2. City View Tavern
City View in Mount Adams is a great place to visit after a long day exploring "The Hill" as Mount Adams is sometimes called. Order a burger, grab a beer, and sit on the enclosed patio for breathtaking views. City View is a tiny neighborhood bar, but it's rarely packed. Still, on a rare night when it's crowded, get ready to sit shoulder-to-shoulder. Bonus: the great jukebox and pool tables.
403 Oregon St., Mount Adams, 513-241-8439
3. The Celestial Steakhouse
EDITOR'S NOTE: Unfortunately, The Celestial has since closed. This award-winning restaurant is located high above the city at the top of a high rise in Mount Adams. The views of the city are stunning, and diners can take it all in - on some nights - while listening to live jazz. This is the kind of place to go if you're impressing friends and family from out of town, or if you're celebrating a very special occasion - even if that special occasion happens to be that it's Wednesday night. Do you really need an excuse to dine at an award-winning restaurant with great views? Tip: Check out the Celestial later in the night for drinks and music. Makes for a great date night.
1071 Celestial St. Cincinnati, OH
4. Public Incline House
This Price Hill restaurant and bar serves great sandwiches and has a stellar beer selection. But its claim to fame is its massive outdoor patio that overlooks the city. What’s unique about the view is that it shows the old industrial side of Cincinnati. You can see railroad tracks and historic buildings that feature the Italianate architecture Cincinnati is famous for. The view gives way to modern buildings in the background, so it’s a history lesson as well as a great place to rest your eyes.
2601 W. Eighth St, Price Hill, 513-251-3000
5. Moerlein Lager House
The Moerlein Lager House at the Banks offers great food, views, and, of course, brews. This is an ideal place to catch a bite before and after a Reds game or anytime, really. It's also a perfect spot if you've got a big group, as the Moerlein House is pretty big. Grab a local beer and relax as you take in the views of the river. Life is good.
115 Joe Nuxhall Way, Downtown, 513-421-2337
6. Montgomery Inn Boathouse
What a great place to take friends and family who are visiting Cincinnati. The Montgomery Inn Boathouse fuses two things that are iconic to Cincinnati - Montgomery Inn ribs and gorgeous views. This is a big, expansive restaurant so it's ideal for large groups. During the warmer months, you can sit outside on the gigantic patio. During the winter, get cozy in their big comfy chairs and take in the view inside the beautiful space.
925 Riverside Drive, Downtown, 513-721-7427
7. The Chart House
The Chart House in Newport gives you a great opportunity to see Cincinnati from the Kentucky side, which means you'll get to see the city from downtown to Mount Adams, to the curve of the Ohio River to the east. The dazzling views and stellar menu make this a very popular place - especially during the holidays - so be sure to make reservations.
405 Riverboat Row, Newport, KY 41071
Ready to check out one (or all) of these great places? Take your camera and your appetite - you're in for a very special night.
