You might think breathtaking views are reserved only for stuffy, overpriced fine dining establishments, but luckily for us, this cozy little spot proves that's just not the case. City View Tavern has the kind of authentic charm that causes guests to affectionately label it a "dive" or "hole in the wall," but it also goes to show you that good things come in small packages.
Located on Oregon Street in Mount Adams, City View Tavern is housed in a tiny historic building that dates back to 1875.
It was home to a neighborhood grocery and tavern (with a second-floor residence) for many decades.
Its short stature is due to a fire in the '40s, when the top floor was lost and never rebuilt.
These humble digs hold quite a surprise, though.
Grab a spot on the deck and marvel at one of the best views of Cincinnati you can find.
Besides the view, this little pub is famous for a couple of other good reasons.
The limited menu features typical bar food like burgers, chili, and a barbecue sandwich. But these burgers are far from typical.
Feast your eyes on this meaty masterpiece known as the Big Ted.
This simple but masterfully seasoned burger comes topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, mustard, ketchup, and pickle. No fuss, no frills - just a delicious burger.
Be sure to wash it down with a cold beer or one of their celebrated Bloody Marys.
These bad boys are perfectly spiced with just the right amount of kick.
Everything at City View Tavern, from the view to the food to the very reasonable bill, will leave a smile on your face.
