Looking for something a little different to do this weekend? Getting you out in the sun and giving you uncommon views, New York's sculpture parks are a thing to be seen. You're most likely already familiar with the popular Storm King Art Center, but did you know there's another unique park just outside of the Capital?
Just over a half-hour south of Albany in Columbia County, Omi International Arts Center is home to a spectacular outdoor space.
Covering over 60 acres outdoor space, you'll find a variety of scenery out here that's been creatively decorated in both contemporary and modern works of art.
This year you can see new exhibits like this towering deer that will make you feel like the newest cast member of Honey I Shrunk The Kids.
A great place to take the whole family, you'll find almost 80 different pieces of art outside.
Walking around you'll see whimsical pieces like Charley Friedman's Squirrel Gang, where over 70 bronze squirrels are hiding in plain sight in the fields.
Some of the art at The Fields are long term installations, with others being changed out after only a year.
Art like Smoke by Richard Nonas have been at The Fields since 2009, a piece made up of railroad ties that lay out in the sun.
The Fields aren't only made up of open space though, you can also escape to the wetlands to hide away in the Omi Pond House created by Rob Fischer.
There's also wooded areas that have eye-catching art hidden away for you to go and explore.
If you have heard of this place before, it's most like because of the ReActor that was installed last year - a spinning house that also acts as a balancing beam of sorts.
So if you're curious what else you'll find waiting for you at The Fields, come and visit to see for yourself!
Open all year long, The Fields sculpture park is open from 11AM to 5PM. Visitors who come to the park can also take advantage of all the picnic areas, making for a wonderful day trip to take on the weekend. To find out more information about visiting, click here.
