Inside the Empire State, you'll find so many exciting ways to reach enchantingly elevated views. Whether you hike up to the top of one of our High Peaks or you take the elevator ride up to the top of the Erastus Corning Tower, every view has something unforgettable to offer. Today though, we're here to show you how there's nothing quite like this one canopy walkway in the mountains. Prepare to be wowed!
Hidden away in the shadows of Whiteface Mountain, pull over while you're traveling along NY-86 and there's a good chance that you'll discover one of our favorite natural attractions.
High Falls Gorge is a privately-owned park that's situated right on the Ausable River, a place that will make you feel like you're in a dream once you arrive.
After parking, you'll head inside the Gift Shop, where you'll get your tickets to gain access to the park and enjoy some shopping for souvenirs.
Plus, this is also where you'll find The River Cafe - an amazing little place to dine in the mountains that offers Adirondack-inspired dishes. Yum!
Now, onto the heart of this park. High Falls Gorge covers 22-acres and features not one, not two, but three amazing nature trails that you can hike along.
The most popular trail to explore at High Falls Gorge is half-mile Waterfall Walk loop trail.
Requiring a sturdy pair of shoes, you'll hike through the woods and over uneven terrain until you reach the park's beautiful boardwalks.
Once you begin to make your way down onto the boardwalks and into the heart of the Waterfall Walk, you'll be left in awe as you find yourself standing over the Ausable River.
Putting you above, next to, and all around four major waterfalls along the river, you'll also have a unique look at one of New York's largest natural potholes too!
Who knew it could be so easy to reach dreamy views like this?
Open all throughout the year, New Yorkers and out-of-town visitors have the opportunity to hike along the elevated Waterfall Walk during every season.
If you've never ventured through High Falls Gorge, it's time you see what people are calling the most breathtaking 30-minute walk in the Adirondack Mountains.
