Treetop adventure courses have been gaining in popularity in the past few years and we absolutely understand why. Thrilling, safe, and scenic, they're fun for nature lovers of (almost) all ages and offer a unique challenge. Participants get to experience their surroundings in a new way (from above) while overcoming obstacles. While you can find courses separate from other attractions, we particularly enjoy those that go hand in hand with a zoo...New Jersey has two!
Tree To Tree Adventure Park is located in Cape May Court House, on the grounds of Cape May County Park and Zoo. It is easily accessible from both the Garden State Parkway and Route 9. Address: 707 Route 9, Cape May Court House
The park just opened two summers ago and adventurers from all over have already flocked here for the thrill, the challenge and the wonderful views.
Take in nature from a new perspective, enjoy the woodlands from the treetops. You'll reach heights of up to 40 feet in the air.
The adventure park offers 4 treetop courses for adults, 1 zipline course and 2 children's courses (with a max height of 25 feet). There's something for every skill level. Note that those with a reach of over 5'11" cannot complete the kids' courses.
Overcome all sorts of obstacles while safely strapped to a harness. Climb, crawl and balance your way through each course. This is a great activity for family fun or team building. It's also a fantastic date idea with just the right amount of thrill.
Tree to Tree is open seasonally, through much of the spring, summer and fall. Both day and season passes are available. Expect 3 hours to complete an adult course and 2 hours to complete a kids course.
When you're done with the adventure course, head to the zoo! Cape May Zoo was recently rated the 5th best zoo in the United States! Guests think so highly of the zoo that its glowing reviews beat out much larger destinations, earning it a TripAdvisor Traveler's Choice Award.
The zoo is home to 550 animals, representing 250 species including the African Lion, Cheetah, Giraffe, Cotton Top Tamarin, Red Panda and Snow Leopard. The zoo is also home to 13 flamingos from Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch.
The zoo is free and open year-round. It offers a colorful carousel, rock climbing wall, mini-train, honey bee haven and beekeeper presentation, photo booth and birds of prey show.
If you can't get to Cape May or are looking for other outdoor adventures in New Jersey, Turtle Back Zoo offers a similar experience. The adult courses are about 35' in height offer around 30 unique obstacles. Their junior courses are approximately 10' high, and offer 15 different obstacles.
Have you been to the Cape May Zoo and treetop adventure course? What did you think? The pre-season starts March 24th, when the park will be open on weekends only. Book online for discounts! Not up for zipping through the sky this spring (or summer)? It isn't for everyone. Perhaps you'd prefer this easy wildflower hike?
