The Las Vegas area is so much more than hotels and casinos. Just southwest of Sin City is one of the most beautiful collection of bike trails in the state. Located just south of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area sit the Cottonwood Valley Trail System and the popular Blue Diamond Loop. Both recreational and avid bikers will love this gorgeous collection of scenic bike trails. These fun, challenging, and scenic bike trails are sure to please both beginner and expert cyclists—and everyone in between! Take a look.
There are over 125 miles of scenic and fun bike trails in the Cottonwood Valley/Blue Diamond Loop area. All of the trails here are well established and clearly marked.
The Cottonwood trail system has everything that cyclists love: small drops, sand, hard pack, rock gardens, and moderate climbs and descents.
There are numerous, shall we say, creatively named trails in this area: 3 Mile Smile, Reds Valley, Badger Pass, Inner Loop, Dead Horse Loop, Viagra, Late Night, Black Velvet, Ducky Trail, Lawnmower,
Hidden Valley, and
The Hurl.
The 10.2-mile Blue Diamond loop is perfect for beginner and intermediate riders.
The trails are primarily single-track gravel decorated with sharp rocks, cholla cactus, and yucca so be sure to wear protective clothing and try not to fall.
More advanced riders have the option of simply adding more mileage to their ride...
...or taking some of the more difficult trails.
The scenery is truly stunning, and the cycling is divine, attracting local and visiting bicycle enthusiasts.
The trails begin and end at McGhie's Outpost at 16 Cottonwood #B in Blue Diamond where riders can stock up on supplies and parts. Bicycles are also available to rent here.
The area is also stunning at dusk...
...and into the night.
