A good meal nourishes the soul, and there are certainly no shortage of spots to eat well in Montana. From our tried-and-true favorites to our sleek, modern spaces, the Treasure State is full of restaurants that are fit for foodies.
But one little small town bistro quietly ranked as Montana's highest rated restaurant last year, based on OpenTable reservations. And if you've ever dined at Beargrass Bistro, you probably understand why. It has some of the best steaks in Montana!
Beargrass Bistro is located in the small town of Lakeside in Flathead County.
You'll find the eatery on Stoner Loop, a couple of blocks from Flathead Lake.
The bistro opened in 2018, and locals and tourists alike have been flocking to it ever since.
It's owned and operated by Steve Patyk and his wife, Bettina, who also own the local brunch restaurant, Farmhouse. Farmhouse is closed un til further notice due to a staffing shortage, but this bistro is more popular than ever.
The concept here is simple: they appreciate the bounty of fresh, local food Montana has to offer.
A local community of farmers, ranchers, and gardeners provide most of the food for Beargrass Bistro.
Speaking of the food ... it's absolutely delicious, especially the steaks.
You'll find several steak options on the dinner menu at any given time.
The signature Filet Mignon is exceptional, and the boneless short ribs are out of this world.
Steak isn't the only thing on the menu -- you can also enjoy crispy duck breast, pasta, Alaskan halibut, and more. But it's definitely the main attraction.
Order whatever looks the most enticing. Just make sure you save room for dessert.
That's one decision you won't mind making.
Beargrass Bistro is open Wednesday - Sunday from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.
While this is a wonderful date night spot, it's also family-friendly, and a perfect place to visit while on vacation.
