Let's go on a hike today, Missouri! Missouri's home to so many spectacular hiking trails that we all probably need a bucket list to compile the ones we want to set off on first. If you already have a hiking bucket list, you'll definitely want to consider adding this scenic trail in Missouri that features a boardwalk, a wooden staircase, and sensational views of the Meramec River.
River Scene Trail, tucked in Castlewood State Park in Ballwin, promises an abundance of natural beauty along its three-mile path.
However, you may face a few challenges as you make your way along the trail that's rated moderate. You'll have to climb stairs and uphill during your hike, but the views are definitely worth it.
The trail can get pretty crowded—with both people and their pups—so be prepared for some foot traffic, especially if you set off on a lovely day.
Some hikers assert that the trail tends to be less crowded in the morning. However, others say it's crowded just about any time you go.
You'll probably want to wear a sturdy pair of hiking or walking shoes as the trail can get rocky at some points.
Keep in mind, if it's crowded, you won't always be able to pass other hikers as parts of the trail can narrow significantly.
The trail will take you to a series of bluffs and scenic overlooks, where you'll enjoy sweeping views of the Meramec River and beyond.
Don't forget your camera as you'll definitely want to snap photos of the many breathtaking views.
If you want to take a breather and just enjoy the scenery, slide onto a wooden bench on the bluff.
