Some of the best swimming spots in Mississippi also tend to be the most crowded. But that’s not always the case – and Clear Springs Lake is the perfect example. Part of a recreation area that’s nestled within a forest, the secluded spring-fed lake provides the perfect spot to cool off, sans crowds. Take a look:
A true hidden gem, Clear Springs Lake Recreation Area is nestled in the pine covered hills of Homochitto National Forest in the small town of Roxie, MS.
Though it’s a great visit year-round, the recreation gets even better during the summer, and that’s because it’s home to Clear Springs Lake, a spring-fed lake that's perfect for swimming.
The 12-acre lake can be easily reached after just a short walk from the parking lot. There’s even a trail encircling the lake, making it easy to access from just about any point.
Since the lake is spring-fed, the water is guaranteed to be nice and cold. But it’s not just the cool water that makes the lake a great swimming spot.
With no motorized boats allowed on the water, the entire lake is basically a "no wake" zone. There’s also a designated "deep end" marked by ropes, so swimmers of all skill levels can safely splash around.
For thrill-seekers, a wooden pier provides the perfect spot for diving and belly flops.
Offering much more than opportunities for water recreation, Clear Springs Lake Recreation Area also includes a campground, picnic areas, and biking and hiking trails.
Even better, spending a day at the recreation area won’t break the bank. The entry fee is only $5 per vehicle.
Clear Springs Lake Recreation Area is located on County Rd. 104 in Roxie MS 39661. For more information on the recreation area, including directions, call (601) 965-1600 or click here.
