The Minnesota and Como Zoos are great and well worth visiting if you love animals. But what if you crave a more up-close-and-personal experience? Instead of heading out into the woods to try to glimpse a deer or bear, why not stay a little closer to civilization? There's a farm in Waconia, Minnesota, that may be just what you're looking for. Your visit will be the most unique experience you have all year. Take a look:
In Waconia, Minnesota, about 40 miles west of the Twin Cities, is Carlson's Llama Ranch.
On the ranch, visitors can closely interact with a large herd of friendly llamas. You can learn about their personalities and how these animals are used.
You'll have a chance to make a new llama friend or two. These creatures are very gentle and curious about humans.
You'll likely discover that each llama has a unique personality.
Once you've been introduced, you can take your new friend for a stroll through the beautiful pastures.
If you time your visit just right, you might just see an adorable baby llama.
The best way to interact with llamas is to schedule a group visit — but there are other chances to meet the llamas, too.
If you really love llamas, you can adopt one. For a small monthly fee, your llama will be cared for at the farm. You can visit it whenever you want.
If you're not ready for that commitment, there are still other chances. On October 1, Carlson's Llama Ranch is hosting an open house.
In addition to meeting llamas, knitters will be able to buy llama wool and yarn. There will also be crafts for kids and a yarn spinner on site.
Carlson's Llovable Llamas are found at 8380 County Road 10 East, Waconia. To learn more about the ranch and to schedule a visit, visit their website here.
