Here in Minnesota, fall is always just around the corner. Even in the dog days of summer, Minnesotans know that the crisp weather is just a few weeks away. That's why it's a good idea to start planning your fall hikes in advance. There are plenty of spectacular hikes throughout the autumn season, but there's one fall foliage hike in particular that you just can't miss. Check it out:
On Minnesota's North Shore, some of the most beautiful fall foliage in the country waits to be discovered.
Among all the places to stop along Lake Superior, it doesn't get much better than the fall colors at Tettegouche State Park.
This rugged state park offers some of the North Shore's most incredible views.
A hike down the Shovel Point trail - about 0.6 miles - offers cliff views.
Surrounded by changing leaves, the sight at the end of the trail is nothing short of spectacular.
Perhaps the most famous hike, however, is the High Falls Trail.
This 1.5-mile path leads through dense northern Minnesota forest. The colorful canopy overhead will fill you with awe.
It's stunning all year, but it is awash with colorful beauty every fall.
The trail leads to the High Falls of the Baptism River, Minnesota's second-highest waterfall.
The sight of the rushing water, rough cliffs, and fiery leaves is something you'll never forget.
Tettegouche State Park is one of the prettiest places in Minnesota every autumn. It has not yet started to change, but it will soon. If you want to know exactly the best time to visit the park this fall, check out the DNR's Fall Color Finder.
