Slip on your favorite hiking boots or a sturdy pair of shoes for your picturesque journey along the 3.9-mile Canyon Gorge Trail near L’Anse.
The trail will lead you to the Grand Canyon of Michigan, perhaps more commonly known as Canyon Falls and Gorge.
Expect the easy trail, which appeals to hikers of all ages and skill levels, to get pretty crowded, especially during the autumn.
If you're not in a hurry, consider bringing a picnic lunch along. You'll find plenty of scenic spots to spread out and to enjoy a leisurely meal as you admire the tumbling waterfall.
After relaxing by the waterfall, continue following the trail that will lead you to sensational views of Canyon Gorge.
The stunning gorge spans a mile in width and is 300 feet at its deepest points. It's also a picture-perfect backdrop for photographs.
Once you've visited Canyon Falls and Gorge during the autumn, you'll definitely want to return to see the frozen falls in the winter. Spring means blossoming flowers. The falls' swimming holes are popular in the summer.
