Onota Lake in Pittsfield is a gorgeous 617-acre sapphire pool straight out of a summer daydream.
The water here is a stunning azure hue. You won't believe you're still in New England.
The lake is adjacent to Burbank Park, a 153-acre public green space with plenty of natural charm.
A walking path runs around the lake. Stroll along the water’s edge and see this lovely spot from all angles.
There's also a great playground in the park. You can enjoy the view while the little ones play.
Due to its location and beauty, Onota is very popular with anglers, swimmers, kayakers and water skiers.
There's a clean public swimming beach, complete with lifeguards on duty during July and August.
There’s a free, double concrete boat ramp on the southeast shore, and a cement fishing pier to make catching dinner just a bit easier.
There’s a great picnic area where you can enjoy lunch at a table in the shade. There are also free grilling areas available.
Parking is easy, even during the summer months. Dogs are allowed, though they must be leashed.
Admission to both the park and lake is completely free, making this a sweet spot to bring the whole family.
Lake Onota is a special Berkshire jewel, and should be on everyone’s summer bucket list.
