Are you looking for the perfect place to get out and enjoy the sunshine this season? Then grab your paddles and head over to the Cox Reservation for some of the best kayaking in the state. Here’s what you need to know.
The Allyn Cox Reservation is located in Essex.
It’s an expansive stretch of salt marsh habitat and fields that are unbelievably picturesque and make for amazing kayaking.
As soon as you arrive at the reservation, you’ll be met with breathtaking views of the salt marsh.
The marsh is surrounded by hedgerow and sits on the edge of a tidal estuary.
Simply bring your kayak, canoe, or paddle board to the Clam House Landing and slide into the water.
As you glide across the marsh, you can drink in the sight and scent of cherry, pear, apple, and dogwood blossoms.
You might also be lucky enough to spot shorebirds and larger fowl like like osprey, herons, egrets, and kingfishers.
If you’d rather stay on dry land, the reservation is a haven for painters, photographers, and dog walkers.
Bring some dry shoes to change into after boating to fully enjoy this beautiful spot.
